Artists Statement - March 1995

Monotypes have a special place in my artwork. Having done over two thousand in the last ten years, monotypes have been my main vehicle for growth. I feel that the incredible range of techniques that can be employed in monotypes lead the artist into innovative new realms. The serial mode of working is also a fascinating way to observe process. Being an artist that works with nature, process takes on even more importance. My piece in the show, "Petri", is about this process Istewl.
